A graphic scale is a tool used on maps to represent the actual distance on the ground. It's a line marked with measurements, similar to a ruler, that helps users understand the size of features and distances between locations on a map.
Scale Bar: This is another term for graphic scale. It's essentially a line drawn on the map that represents a certain amount of ground distance.
Map Scale: This refers to the relationship (or ratio) between distance on a map and the corresponding distance on the ground.
Cartographic Scale: This term refers to how much detail is shown on a map. A larger cartographic scale shows more detail because it represents smaller areas.
