Figurative techniques are language devices used by authors to create meaning beyond literal interpretation. They include similes, metaphors, personification, hyperbole, symbolism, and other forms of figurative language.
Simile: A comparison between two unlike things using 'like' or 'as.'
Metaphor: A direct comparison between two unlike things without using 'like' or 'as.'
Symbolism: The use of objects, characters, or actions to represent abstract ideas or qualities.
