The Intolerable Acts were a series of laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774, aimed at punishing the American colonists for the Boston Tea Party and other protests.
Coercive Acts: Another name for the Intolerable Acts. These laws were meant to force (or coerce) Massachusetts into submission to British rule.
Boston Tea Party: A protest by American colonists against British taxes on tea in which they dumped many crates of tea into Boston Harbor.
Quartering Act: Part of the Intolerable Acts; it required colonists to provide housing and supplies for British soldiers stationed in America.
