Washington D.C., formally known as District of Columbia, is the capital city of United States. It was established by Constitution as federal district separate from states for national government purposes.
Federalism: A system where power is divided between national and state governments.
Capitol Building: The home of the United States Congress and seat of legislative branch of U.S. federal government.
Three-Fifths Compromise: An agreement reached during Constitutional Convention stipulating that each slave would be counted as three-fifths person for purpose of taxation and representation.
